Since the Schengen agreement of the year 1985 ,
which initiated the joint security policy, the three countries in SaarLorLux cooperate very much. According to Mr. Ralph Melzer, the
public relations officer of the police of the Saarland, there are joint trainings,
parties and, of course, joint
investigations.
For example: The French police can arrest a fugitive during a pursuit even on German or
Luxembourgian territory.
Just a few months ago, hostages in a Luxembourgian kindergarden where successfully freed during a joint operation of French and German police forces.
