  Feature Description [top]

Since I own a DVD player which can show pictures while playing mp3- tracks from a CD I started to produce mp3-cd's; but I was always to lazy to scan the covers. Than I detected that there are a few online databases that can be searched, so I deceided to implement this small tool to grab the corresponding cd cover image for a given mp3 file.

MP3Htm will scan a selected drive for mp3 files, read-in all id3-tags, analyze the artist, album and trackname and finally put the results sorted into a treeview. Now you can explore the results, and if you double-click an entry MP3Htm tries to find the cover picture for you. What you will get is the cover image as jpeg, gif or bmp in 300x300 pixels. I guess that resolution is sufficient to show the picture on a tv.

  • open the application
  • select the drive that should be scanned for mp3-files
  • press "Scan for mp3's!" to start the search
  • after a while you will get a tree of all found files sorted by artist an album
  • navigate to the entry you are interested in an double-click it (works for both album and artist)
  • the browser window will take your selection and query an online database to find your selection
  • you may need to select the right album, just use the browser window to navigate there

  • If you see the small picture of your CD than press "Scan for Cover" and the application will load the bigger picture for you, the only thing left is to right-click it and save it - that's all. I guess it takes longer to read this text than actually doing it

  Feedback, Ideas, Suggestions.. [top]

This is freeware and may be freely downloaded, used and distributed. Use at your own risk. I've tested the software under NT4 and Win95, it probably runs under Win98 and Win2k, too.
If you encounter problems please send me an email with a short error description (OS, what you did, what happens) so that I can reproduce and fix the problem.

I invite you to share all comments, questions, praise and criticism. Check this webpage from time to time for updates.
